A RETURN TO RUFFLES
Paris: Designer Clare Waight Keller may be new to Chloé but the brand celebrated its 60th anniversary this season, a landmark emphasized with a return to their signature feminine aesthetic. In contrast to Fall’s sporty modernity the S/S 13 collection looked effervescent, centered on voluminous pleating and crisp ruffles for an on-trend boxy silhouette. The presentation featured A-line mesh skirts paired with winged-sleeve crop tops, one-shoulder babydoll dresses in a peachy shade of pink and soft pants embellished with floral self-fabric appliqués. Although surface texture was key, Waight Keller’s minimalist instincts kicked in a few times and the results — such as cutaway jackets and simple tunics — were a complementary contrast to all the frothy tiered constructions. —Nina Stotler
