Paris: For her second season at Chloé, creative director Clare Waight Keller’s capitalized on the successful elements of her previous Pre-Fall and S/S 12 collections. This meant an offering of chicly slouchy separates, subtly tomboyish, save for the pretty powdery palette and the presence of brushed silk and delicate lace. Things had a definite loungewear influence — wool trousers with rib knit cuffs resembled sweatpants and panels of quilted satin evoked vintage bed jackets. Texture was a key element, and ensembles were built on a juxtaposition of surfaces like lacquered leather with spongy wools. Most successful was the selection of slightly tweaked outerwear — cocoon-like collarless coats, an oversized duffel feminized in petal pink, and a cropped parka with extra-full, elongated sleeves. Overall, the collection achieved a desirable balance pretty yet masculine, easy yet tailored, and comfortable yet chic. —Anna Jane Davis
