Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel Haute Couture collection spoke volumes about his inspiration for the season. Lagerfeld recreated the Place Vendôme with neon lights, offering a hauntingly futuristic depiction of the Paris landmark. With the dystopian, sci-fi theme inspired by the 1927 Fritz Lang film Metropolis, it’s worth noting the unexpected use of neon lights that emitted from the toes of the models’ Mary Janes at the show’s conclusion. -Monique Umeh
