THE FINER THINGS
New York: Chadwick Bell emerged on the New York fashion scene five seasons ago, straight out of the gate with a confident sense of luxury, catering—not to his young downtown peers—but a sophisticated (and financially endowed) woman who appreciates the tactile delights of silk georgette, ostrich feathers and fox fur. For F/W 13, Bell built on his love of menswear silhouettes, further cementing himself as an American sportswear progeny. He relaxed things a little this season, and in Bell’s hands relaxed means tailored wool cashmere sweatpants and neoprene jersey sweatshirts. Everyday luxe is a category being bolstered by designers like The Row and Organic by John Patrick and if he continues to hone his appreciation for fabrics and eye for detail, Bell will prove a welcome addition to the club. — Natalie Shukur
