Paris: For F/W 12, Phoebe Philo successfully continued to hone her recipe for impeccable simplicity at Celine. Along with the collection’s core of investment outerwear and strict leathers Philo incorporated elements of activewear detailing, lending the presentation’s exciting tempo. This energy was echoed in a palette in which unconventional color pairings —mauve with cherry-red, cerulean with burgundy—found harmony atop a graphic base of black and white. Tops, coats and pants in blown out proportions remained clean save for paneling and zipper details both realized in a “racing stripe” suggestive vertical alignment. –Kibwe Chase-Marshall
