Catwalk trend alert: Old master florals

London Fashion Week Catwalks – S/S 19 Trend Alert

This catwalk season, we’re sharing exclusive WGSN content on WGSN Insider.

After show-hopping – and a team debrief – the WGSN Catwalks editors call out the most exciting and directional emerging trends – and, for the first time, we’re sharing our favourites here.

Catwalk trend alert: Old master florals

Usually reserved for A/W, dark ground florals bring a sense of drama and opulence to transseasonal pieces

Rooted in femininity and British eccentricity, florals draw inspiration from lavish carpets, old-master paintings and wallpapers.

Photo prints are coming back in a big way – apply to graphic tees for younger customers.

“With an elevated return to romanticism, dark ground blooms appear as a key fashion statement – not just as an all-over print, but also dissected and reimagined for a youthful direction.” says Lizzy Bowring, Catwalks Director.
