Last week the Active Team stopped by the opening of the new Carhartt WIP – Work In Progress – store on Crosby Street in NYC. Now, its no secret that we have been anxiously waiting for the brand to make its debut stateside. Although typically associated with traditional workwear here in US, internationally, Carhartt caters to streetwear, skating, cycling and snowboarding. You can see evidence of that in some of our past posts and reports here and here. We know that you can get your hands on the Burton collab, and or go to Barneys for the Adam Kimmel Collection, but there is just something about the being able to purchase basics (without having to go to Paris or Copenhagen) that gets us all worked up.

Now, from a trend perspective, what we really think is cool about this new store is that Soho is starting to get some of its streetwear-soul back. With the recent openings of The Hundreds and Vans x DQM General Store on Grand Street, it kind of reminds us of when Supreme, X-Large and Triple Five Soul opened on Lafayette in the 90s. And yes, we are old enough to remember that. – Jeanine Pesce
