The Camper Together design collaboration initiative sets out to pair with international designers offering a unique regional perspective of design excellence, utilizing the Camper distribution for a global reach. Often pairing with independent designers of varying backgrounds while staying true to collaboration initiative, the focus of the collections are to integrate creativity and design through the unconventional practice that has garnered Camper a cult reputation. Following the success of the on-going collection with German designer Bernhard Willhelm, whose eclectic sneakers became almost instantly iconic, in Spring 2014, Camper Together is set to launch a collaboration with New York based designer Rachel Comey. Positioned mainly among boutique retail channels, Comey has amassed her own cult following for her downtown aesthetic of often vintage inspired footwear, apparel and accessories. Honoring Camper’s comfort philosophy, Rachel Comey produced an extremely wearable sandal, fueling a burgeoning trend of fashionable comfort footwear. The Stylesight team spoke with Rachel Comey herself, who conveyed her excitement at the opportunity to work with new techniques and materials– The sandal’s molded exterior, cupped leather comfort footbed, and playful floral patterned hemp hand embroidery vamp detailing make for an innovative combination, and a sure must-have item for Spring. In Camper stores starting March 1st, 2014.
