This much anticipated exhibition curated by fashion industry it-man, Hedi Slimane, is finally on at the Galerie Almine Rech in Paris. “California Dreamin, Myths and Legends of Los Angeles” explores the Los Angeles art scene through the eyes of a fashion prodigy, examining his adopted home and latest obsession.
Having moved to Los Angeles two years ago, Slimane has been heavily influenced by the artists of the West. In this exhibit, he curates some of the Golden State’s most important talents, including Raymond Pettibon, Ed Ruscha, Chris Burden, John Baldessaria and the iconic Dennis Hopper.
A new book ‘Anthology of a Decade’ (Ringier) will be released soon after on April 30th. The book will highlight a selection of 175 color photographs that traverse the music scene, the New York art scene, street fashion and haute couture and record Slimane’s early years in the fashion industry, before, during and after his tenures at Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior.
