New York: Cacharel’s target customer has always been on the younger side; women who are concerned with a wardrobe that is cute, but also well-fitting and practical. For Pre-Fall the label’s new designers Ling Liu and Dawei Sun kept these needs in mind with a presentation comprised of youthful, unembellished cashmere coats in vibrant blues and soft apricots, abstract print dresses and jersey tops, as well as slim fit pleated trousers and shorts. Draped front blouses in crisp cotton provided dimension, as did oversized ribbed scarves and hats, but tapered jersey pants had an awkward fit and high waist shorts seemed out of proportion. Despite these few missteps, Cacharel’s audience should be pleased with Pre-Fall’s simple, everyday pieces and cozy accessories.—Nina Stotler
