CITY MEETS COUNTRY
In what’s become Milan’s best kept secret, C.P. Company, in its second season under the creative direction of Scotland-born Wallace Faulds (formerly head designer for Galliano menswear), continues to present innovative fabrics and compelling styling. For F/W 10, Faulds’ inspiration was a chic city dweller who takes a trip to the country; both influences merged perfectly in enthralling combinations of quilted vests in techno fabrics, rustic tartans, rugged corduroys and marled sweaters. An exuberant autumnal palette of mustard, burgundy, forest green, tobacco, grape, moss and rust was one of the strongest seen so far this season. Standout outerwear included a utility version of a toggle coat and a beautiful leather bomber lined in sherpa. The multiple layers never looked over-the-top; rather, in these sturdy fabrics and warm colors, it all looked cozy, wearable and seasonally appropriate.
