Over the course of the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, an array of star-studded events and parties go down from January 19th to 29th throughout the ten days of premieres. Considering Park City Resort is also home to some of the best world-class mountains, it’s only fitting that Burton Snowboards would want to host ride days for celebrities attending the festival…so when Burton extended an invite to the Active Team to join in on the festivities, we grabbed our gear and headed to the hill.
For three days, Burton set up a massive, top notch compound at the base of Park City Resort, where the brand housed three Demo-Testing Center tents filled with boards, boots and bindings for guests to ride compliments of Burton. Additionally, a VIP lounge was set up complete with gourmet snacks, a full bar, changing area – gratis gear from Burton – a DJ, and comfy couches to relax on after shredding.
The day the Active Team attended, the snow-gods were smiling down on us, as we rode in perfect powder with blue bird skies above.

Marquee names came through the lounge including musicians Jason Mraz, Asher Roth and Justin Bieber’s DJ Tay James. On the actor front, Martin Starr – best known for his performance in Knocked Up – came through right before his premiere at Sundance for the film Save the Date. Los Angeles club promoter, Brent Bolthouse also stopped by, who we found out has been snowboarding for twenty years!

The event couldn’t have been complete without key members of Burton’s professional snowboard team, including Gabi Viteri, Zak Hale and newest the addition (and former member) Kimmy Fasani.

Burton Chief Creative Officer, Greg Dacyshyn and his wife, Anne-Marie Dacyshyn (who handles Global Public Relations for the brand) always raise the bar in the style department. We were especially eyeing Anne-Marie’s leather-inspired snowboarding pants and bleached Anorak Jacket, as well as the Free City x Burton collab (late ‘11/’12 release) that Greg was sporting in a tonal green combo. Niceeee!

A big thanks also goes out to Amanda Wormann, Burton Social Media Manager and the entire PR team. We had a blast! Next stop…SIA and Winter X Games….the trend travel train doesn’t stop folks! –Jessica Kaplan
