London: A perfect Spring day, sun shining, white shirted waiters holding trays of Champagne and Pims, plus, a 24-piece orchestra – all set in Kensington gardens. In this surreal ambiance, Christopher Bailey presented Burberry’s ‘Straight-laced’ menswear collection for S/S 16. Introducing the new sartorial cut of The Chelsea, a tailored slim fit silhouette that appeared in double-faced cashmere topcoats, suits, lightweight down jackets, and wool/silk trench coats trench, the range of quintessentially classic tailored suits, shirts and ties were juxtaposed with lace shirts in a palette of black, navy, charcoal, pale grey, brown, stone and white with accents of turquoise, red and mustard. A bold ‘zebra’ print on coats, also appeared on the cashmere rugs placed on the lawn outside the venue– it was such a nice touch achieved with the aplomb that we have come to expect from Burberry. – Lizzy Bowring
