London: The atmosphere on the West Albert lawn, Kensington Gardens was quite electrifying. The crowd buzzed and swarmed until the last second before the show and suddenly ..the quiet..the hush.. and then.. Alison Moyet singing – All Cried Out, and Only You amongst others.
This S/S 2016 presentation for Burberry, was filled with a younger, more carefree spirit and was Chief Creative and Executive Officer Christopher Bailey’s most relevant to the current youthful mood in London. He said it was “mash-up of things I really love” and clearly there was quite a mix. Edgy military influences in gold buttons, delicate gold frogging and braid adorned the perfect black pea coat. Meanwhile duffle coats, officer jackets and leather bikers, also trimmed in gold braiding were nonchalantly worn over the most languid of slip dresses in slippery satins or sweet, short sculpted dresses.
The palette was mesmerising in black, cream and nude while print came in the form of tie-dyed crystals that shimmered over delicate wisps of dresses. There were some beautiful pieces in a very beautiful yet definitive collection.
