London: Crossing prim feminine silhouettes with ethnic patterns and artisanal details, Christopher Bailey’s latest looks for Burberry conjured a worldly version of the midcentury housewife who has appeared at several of the S/S 12 shows. Batik prints, crochet accents and wooden beads decorated ladylike tailored pieces, while elegant fabrics and luxurious trims elevated sporty parkas and the brand’s trademark trenches. Accessories, like playful woven raffia caps and crochet belts, shared the same charm and impressive craftsmanship. –Whitney Kessler
