New York: Designer Christopher Bailey once again brought an appealing contemporary point of view to classic Burberry pieces for his current collection. This time, Bailey focused on handcrafted details to give the items an artisanal feel. Whipstitching, fringe, crochet and leather trim were among the techniques that updated trenches, car coats and parkas. A tribal aesthetic was also expressed in the African Dutch Wax prints used for dresses and skirts. The vibrant jewel tones and graphic shapes projected an upbeat, youthful feel, as did beaded shoes and bags, but an overall sense of sophistication held the entire collection together. –Joanna Manganaro
