Burberry Prorsum

Milan: Christopher Bailey shook up the usual rainy day fare this season with a heavy dose of electric-hued metallics. Shimmering materials took the form of papery shirts and jackets, leather pants and blouson bombers, either covertly peeking out from beneath layers or topping off ensembles for a fully futuristic effect. Silk foulard motifs had a faintly Far East feel, also emphasized by a handful of tunic silhouettes. The expected trench coats and utility outerwear were also present, but couldn’t help but take backstage to all the pulsating color. Accessories were also metallic; tote bags, sunglasses, and sandals, which even worn with black socks, were undeniably cool. —Anna Jane Davis
