SHRINK TO FIT London: It was as though Thumbelina served as muse for Christopher Bailey throughout the development of CR 13’s Burberry Prorsum collection in which sweaters, jackets and narrow trousers shrunk to Lilliputian proportions. The disheveled foppish aesthetic cultivated by Bailey throughout recent seasons continued with a renewed interest in whittled jackets, tailored silks, and mens-inspired foulard prints. Feminine notes of pink and mauve softened the tobacco, khaki, and flannel palette so familiar to Burberry fans. Similar to those found on skirts in throughout the F/W 12 presentation, sweaters showcased jaunty patch flap pockets — making novel basics worth investing in for a transitional season. —Kibwe Chase-Marshall
