ON THE ROAD
New York: Andrew Buckler looked towards Jack Kerouac’s classic On the Road for a season all about easy shapes, hearty fabrics and masculine layering. The almost all-grey collection had intarsia sweaters, plenty of flannel and a gutsy fur-trimmed parka. The pants with a subtle dropped crotch looked completely wearable, a nice contrast to other designers’ more extreme versions. A double-breasted shorts suit was unusual for a fall collection, but was balanced out with and underlayer of dark long johns tucked into rugged boots. As usual, Buckler’s habit of choosing exquisite fabrics and styling them in a masculine and contemporary way was what really impressed.
