Milan: An unlikely pair of icons, disco-era Diana Ross and Brazilian screen siren Florinda Bolkan, served as inspiration for Alessandro Dell’Acqua’s second outing for Brioni. While Dell’Acqua brings his tailoring chops to the traditional Italian fashion house, he has also revamped the label with a sense of modern ease and subtle sex appeal. This season, disco-decadent silk blouses, studded dresses and pieced fur coats met with more demure office-appropriate matched sets, smart trousers and lace sheaths. As evidenced by his odd couple of muses this fall, Dell’Acqua is a master at mixing various genres – day and evening, masculine and feminine, prim and relaxed – and the eclectic vision should continue to keep the label relevant, and perhaps even hip.
