Our menswear team recently got a sneak preview of E. Tautz’s F/W 11 collection in New York prior to their runway showing at London Fashion Week. Patrick Grant, owner and proprietor, also runs Norton & Sons on Savile Row. Now one of the most buzz-worthy labels in menswear, E. Tautz has been around as a brand since 1867. Touted for its precise tailoring, time-honored fabrics and construction, as well as its timeless look, this newly-revived brand is one of our menswear editor’s must-haves for next season.
As with other British brands, it’s all about the details. E. Tautz works with some of the best mills, including: Johnstons of Elgin for tweed; Hainsworth for their military doeskin; wool silk tie cloths woven by Stephen Walters; and shirtings by Thomas Mason. Every style is handmade in the UK and styling for the season plunged headlong into military tradition and the sportswear of the mid-1970s with a of Scorcese’s Mean Streets.
E. Tautz is available at Harrods, Selfridges, Matches, Mr. Porter, Barneys New York and Beams.
