Milan: A relaxed Bottega Veneta was on offer this season from Tomas Maier with a collection of elevated casualwear infusing the signature, pared-back luxury aesthetic with an outdoorsy attitude. The designer’s inspiration was an “A journey back to nature” which meant slouchy silhouettes of oversized and loose trekking inspired gear. Cagoules, anoraks, tight trousers and quilted summer liners with athletic components and constructed in technical jersey were reminiscent of scuba gear. The humble tracksuit was given the luxury spin with variations of zip-through jackets or hoodies paired with generously proportioned tailored track pants in neoprene, suede, washed silk and worn with socks and sandals. The odd leisure suit was also present in plain or vibrant jewel toned, stripy washed silk adding a luxurious finish while nylon track-pants came with a textural sheen. It countered the soothing palette of grey light blue and beige neutrals anchored by Bottega’s traditional charcoal and black colours. A mossy texture was also key with embossed neoprene and patch worked Japanese striped cottons adding interesting subtle detailing. – Tom Crisp
