London: Staged in the opulent gold hues of The Criterion, Matthew Williamson created a collection with a zodiac of print, embellishment and bold colour combinations. Silks and seventies silhouettes appeared in gem colours inspired by birthstones such as garnet, sapphire, amethyst and jade. Leopard print and Mongolian fur were layered with embroidered silks, floral printed chiffons and a wild mix of colours and contrast prints. From pink and red floral printed chiffon dresses with Mongolian fur trim cuffs to a stand out double breasted hot pink silk ‘le smoking’ style jumpsuit Williamson’s signature vibrant colour promised to warm up even the coldest months. Mustard and fuchsia silks twisted in floor length dresses, skirts were provocatively slashed high up the thigh while necklines plunged into the deepest Vees. Silk tapestry embroidered parkas were worn with floor length silk shirt dresses, bohemian furs were nonchalantly draped on shoulders and sunglasses had gold mirrored lenses.– Camilla Morton
