BIG IDEAS | What’s on Your Plate?

The seemingly simple question where do these cherry tomatoes come from birthed the film What’s on Your Plate? The documentary about kids and food politics, produced and directed by award-winning Catherine Gund, follows best friends Sadie and Safiyah as they find their place in the food chain. With the camera as their companion, the precocious 11-year-old girl guides talk to food activists, farmers, new friends, storekeepers, their families, and the viewer, in their quest to understand what’s on all of our plates.
