The simple days of paper party hats and pin-the-tail-on-donkey are long gone as kid companies offer creative birthday party ideas that are sure to be the talk of the playground. Teach your kids the gift of giving with the Milk + Bookies’ Birthday Party. The Los Angeles-based nonprofit Milk + Bookies aims to teach children to give back to the less fortunate through books. The birthday program encourages parents to ask party guests to donate a hardcover picture book in lieu of a gift and offers a free, downloadable invitation template and The Bookies Box ($30) which includes book plates (guests can inscribe their donated books), colorful “I Donated” stickers and bookmarks.
