The little brother of classic British brand Turnbull & Asser is still trying to find its place in this world of “modernized basics.” S/S 10 was the best attempt yet at finding its true voice, with wonderfully contemporary silhouettes for well-cut suits and outerwear. The three-button suit was by far the strongest look, with a high button stance (a directional proportion) and in coated waxed cotton that had a subtle shine. For the most part, underpinnings remained tonal and neutral, with a white collar shirt providing the biggest “pop” in the collection. A slim navy Macintosh jacket looked sophisticated when worn with skinny black jeans and a grey woven shirt. As the interest in “modern Mod” continues next season, it will be interesting to see Bespoken jump to the front of the line when it comes to influential collections.
