The Beauty-Full Week: Travel Essentials

I’m off to New York this week (literal joy) and although I’ve never been one to exercise an entire skincare routine whilst ‘in-the-air’ there are a few essentials I can’t go without. If I did, I’d probably disembark looking like a shriveled prune, skin as dry as cow hide and eyes all puffy and red. The below five products will be the first in my carry on – replacing any notions of reading fodder and neck pillows I once had. Priorities and all that.

1. When Travelmate Sheet Mask
These sheet masks are top notch skin saviours. I might look a bit ridiculous sat watching re-runs of Friends with a paper mask slathered over my features, but the benefits far out weigh the burden of odd looks and whispered captions. A soft, jelly like mask made from coconut juice, it’s infused with serum containing chamomile and Swiss Alpine herb extracts to hydrate and soothe. Hyaluronic acid will work its magic too, resulting in a wonderfully refreshed face even if I don’t manage to catch 40 winks in air.

2. This Works Turbo Balm
To further up the ante, this Turbo Balm from This Works is a hydrating goddess, designed to boost dehydrated lips and skin whenever they might need it. 100% natural, the combination of Tahitian Monoi oil, cocoa butter and rose oil strengthens, enriches and hydrates the skin for a super supple complexion.

3. Kiehl’s In-Flight Refreshing Facial Mist
This little pick-me-up is great for an energy boost after a wee upright nap. Formulated with cactus flower, lavender, geranium and rosemary, it’s the specially sourced Tibetan ginseng which is most unique, a mountain plant known to increase skin-cell respiration at high altitudes. Don’t mind if I do.

4. Bite Lush Lip Wipes
My lips are a constant problem – right this minute I’m applying balm every 30 seconds to try and soothe the pain they’re inflicting. In the air, the issue gets even worse so these new Lush Lip Wipes from Bite are my newly found obsession. Infused with the brand’s signature superfruit flavour, as well as melon extract, they hydrate and mattify the lips in one easy wipe. Containing no parabens, sulfates or phthalates, they’re ideal for sensitive choppers like mine and are quicker and easier to whip out of my bag mid flight.

5. Holistic Silk Limited Edition Eye Mask
I’m dreadful at sleeping on planes. It’s literally the only place I’ve never managed to kip, which is saying something considering I used to fall asleep half way through crawling as a kid. This new and limited edition eye mask from Holistic Silk, however, will at least help block out the light when I do decide to rest up, but knowing me I’ll end up staying awake, watching films for 7 hours straight and emerge a shell of my former self, despite my best intentions. Here’s hoping.
