From September 2 – October 2, 2010, Harrods is hosting The Perfume Diaries, an exhibit “celebrating the past, present and future of the perfume industry.”
Curated by world renowned fragrance authority Roja Dove (of the Haute Pafumerie at Harrods) and in collaboration with Givaudan, this stylish exhibit showcases the most iconic and influential fragrances that have emerged since the 1800s. Visitors can discover the inspiration behind the greatest fragrance classics as original artwork sketches and designs are displayed alongside personal anecdotes and rare flacons, and see how world events shaped fragrance trends. Take the sweet, comforting vanilla scents, so popular in the 1930’s as people looked for an escape from the Depression. Or the fresh green notes of the late 1950s that reflected the world’s desire for a fresh start after WWII. A series of ongoing events and workshops will also feature the world’s finest perfumers talking about their work. Check the schedule for details.
