Tuesday night, designers Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos of Shipley & Halmos feted the debut of their first unisex, limited edition fragrance, Colorado & Florida, a collaboration with Brooklyn-based perfumer D.S. & Durga, at Bird in Williamsburg. Inspired by the nostalgic memories of the designers’ childhoods in Colorado and South Florida, the fragrance process began with two phrases – “suntan lotion” and “alpine snow.” Dave Molz, one half of D.S. & Durga, layered four “regional” accords, like Florida Sand Pine, suntan lotion and crisp snow with juniper, myrtle, and lavender, to get the distinctive blend of notes from the two regions. Only 99 bottles were created. Each bottle is packaged in a cloth pouch with its number stamped on the front. They are available for $98 at Bird and the Shipley & Halmos website.
