The fashion world has lost one of its best. Famed journalist and style icon, Anna Piaggi passed away on Tuesday at the age of 81. Known for her notable role at Vogue Italia, Piaggi also contributed to Vanity, Panorama and Arianna among other publications. Inspiring a generation of designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and Manolo Blahnik, Piaggi acted as a muse for milliner Stephen Jones, who recently described her as his “guiding light” and “inspiration.”
In remembering Piaggi, we know that an homage to her iconic and unique sense of style is in order, but we at the beauty department want to celebrate her vibrant, theatrical beauty flair. Blue streaked tresses peeking through extravagant hats with matching sky blue eye shadow, heavy mascara, statement red lips and stamps of coral blush worn high on the cheek bones. Rest in peace, Anna. The front row at fashion week will forever miss your bold originality, and so will we. – Madeline Farina
