The Gareth Pugh for MAC makeup collection is finally here. Set for a November 23 launch in North America, this “futuristic yet primal” collection is made up of cream eye shadows, slick nail lacquers and graphic eyelashes that go from “deep and mysterious to light, fragile and ethereal,” said Gareth Pugh in the press release. Color inspirations ranged from hematite rock to butterfly wings and the three nail lacquers include a creamy grey-nude (Inert), a grey with blue violet reflective pearl (Ascension) and a deep blue with violet pearl (Ascension). The triangular lashes are the result of Pugh cutting away at a bunch of fake lashes that MAC sent him with the purpose of creating non-lash-shaped lashes.
MAC approachd Pugh to do a special collection after many seasons of working together on his runway shows. Pugh’s personal experience with wearing makeup also helped him in the creation process. In regards to packaging, Pugh described it as “very heavy. It’s kind of like a weapon… It’s luxe, futuristic and architectural,” which goes perfectly with the designer’s aesthetic.
