Anthropologie at 50 Rockefeller Center is welcoming Spring with an in-store pop-up shop by Brooklyn florist Saipua and a special perfume exhibition in the store’s gallery space. The interactive Flori Culture perfume exhibition showcases eleven unique perfumes from notable niche perfumers like Alexa Lixfeld, Joya, Ineke, Strange Invisible Perfumes, Honore des Pres and Le Labo x Anthropologie.
Stylesight stopped by last Wednesday to hear Fabrice Penot, co-creator of Le Labo, and Alexandra Balahoutis, founder of Strange Invisible Perfumes, speak about the process of creating a fragrance. Both emphasized that fragrance is a personal journey of discovery and storytelling. Balahoutis spoke about striving to create botanical fragrances that are layered and full of contradictions. When asked how he knows when to stop working on a fragrance, Penot said “Just before its perfect. It’s like that saying – a room is perfect just before the last paintstroke.”
The Saipua shop-in-shop will be open until April 20th, and Flori Culture will be on display until May 25.
