New York: Gucci spared no expense in flying guests in from around the world to view the latest Pre-Summer 2016 collection, nor did the house shy away from closing up 22nd street in New York in order to present Alessandro Michele’s second debut. Gucci’s avid followers will not be disappointed in this most recent presentation. Capitalizing on his Fall collection, Michele continued to look to vintage ideas and ‘Granny’s Attic’, creating a colourful, quirky lineup. The presentation began with a demure chevron-stripe dress and two prim mini skirted suits – one with chic pleats – but after these, Alessandro’s creative juices new no bounds – embroidered pieces adorned long floaty dresses, little camisoles and coats along with a flourish of nosegays and neck ties – and all in a riot of colour. Androgyny is an integral part of his lineup, and the suits were cut in a way that complemented the pretty feminine laces and vinatage florals. An extremly covetable and individualistic collection – what will Spring/Summer 2016 bring? – Lizzy Bowring
