New York: With no Max Azria runway show this season, all eyes were on Max and Lubov Azria’s offerings for BCBG. The designers developed last season’s color-blocked dresses by introducing a sporty yet sensuous influence into the mix. Techno-bright colors, cutouts and paneling were worked into dropped-waist silhouettes that nodded to boyish Art Deco silhouettes. High slits and deft play with transparency kept the look sexy and modern. Although the light-as-feather chiffon hoodies and bi-level hemlines brought to mind Richard Nicholl’s Fall 2011 collection, the designers’ application of geometric and tribal prints kept the looks original and highly commercial. —Shine Dharan
