Six NYFW shows that brought the catwalk to the public

GRAPHIC FLUIDITY
New York: BCBG delivered a compelling argument for a new brand of cold weather dressing, built upon both a fluidity in fabric/silhouette as well as a continuation of recent seasons’ color blocking trend. Shapes were loose and breezy, floating off the body with little trim or embellishment. In their place, pleating and sheerness were employed to compensate for a deliberate eschewing of surface interest. Transparency also created a sexy take on a maxi-length dress, as a mini tunic was extended floor-ward via ankle-length translucent panels. Furthering this paneling concept, piecing informed the collection’s fur story, resulting in chubby-proportioned jackets with artful exclamations of segmented color. –Kibwe Chase-Marshall
