The latest restaurant from Barcelona-based restaurateur Teresa Carles, Flax & Kale’s philosophy centres around healthy eating and raw, wholesome vegetarian food. Situated at the top end of gritty El Raval, the space was designed by local company Estudi Francesc Pons and features exposed brick, industrial tones, and modish fabrics. Meanwhile, the cuisine focuses on upmarket vegetarian and delicious gluten free fare such as kale salads, blueberry and quinoa muffins, and activated charcoal, chia and goji berry cold press juices, with 80% of dishes plant based. Flax & Kale is just a short stroll away from Carles’ original eponymous restaurant, and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. –Emily Cater
