Banksy in the Village

The Fashion Office has long admired British street artist, Banksy so we were thrilled when his latest installation popped up right around the corner at 89 7th Ave South. “The Village Pet Store and Grill” features animals on display such as a chimp watching chimp porn and a rabbit preens in a mirror. But fear not fellow animal lovers, no beasties were harmed here, on closer inspection they turn out to be animatronics. There are more bizarre exhibits also, such as Chicken McNuggets dip themselves in BBQ sauce, fish sticks in a fish tank, and hot dogs move about in a tank. What’s it all about? Bansky has been quoted as saying he thinks New Yorkers care more about animals than they do about art. He might have a point…
