Paris: Christophe Decarnin’s glam rock looks from fall shifted to punk this season, as studs and safety pins adorned his signature distressed tees and tight leather pants. Motorcycle jackets – both denim and leather versions – were decked out with patches and the aforementioned hardware and were paired with slim cropped pants, daring leather miniskirts or the shortest of short-shorts. A swirling print was used for some denim pieces – its best iteration in black and acid yellow, echoing the collection’s irreverent mood, and faded American flag motifs were printed on dirty-looking tanks. Leather bustiers were pieced and safety-pinned together for an Edward Scissorhands-like effect. A pure white blazer worn with a matching tank and shiny silver pants was a departure from the gritty looks, although still in keeping with the designer’s silhouette for the season. Decarnin’s show – in addition to those of Balenciaga and Burberry – was an edgy counterpoint to the Pop ebullience of Milan and the 70s disco glam of New York. Rock on.
