Balenciaga gets moody and mysterious in new men’s campaign starring Sam Smith

Singer Sam Smith announced on his personal Twitter account Wednesday that he would be the face of Balenciaga’s men’s Autumn/Winter 15 campaign joining supermodel duo Kate Moss and Lara Stone who appear in the French luxury house’s women’s campaign.

The moody imagery and film, which were then uncovered Thursday morning, shows the ‘Stay with me’ singer shot in a mysterious stone room with curved walls.

Josh Olins is responsible for shooting both the film and images.

Designer Alexander Wang described the new campaign star’s elegance as a draw card for the collaboration: “Beyond his tremendous talent, Sam Smith conveys a quiet elegance and a subtle sensuality that are perfect for Balenciaga. He represents both sensitivity and power – the dualities of the Balenciaga man.”

The film also makes use of a haunting soundtrack by Andy Stott.

Christopher Simmonds created the campaign’s art direction and styling is by Robbie Spencer.
