Look: Clean, Healthy Beauties
Makeup: Lucia Pieroni for Cle de Peau
Hair: Bob Recine for Phyto and Amika
Nails: Nonie Creme for Butter London
Makeup was a “healthy, glowing mannequin look, a bit androgynous but not too alien.” Pieroni kept makeup simple and a bit monochromatic to complement the color in the collection. A new-for-spring 2012 Cle de Peau highlighter was brushed onto the cheeks, nose and temples as well as the body for a subtle glow. Taupe-y browns were used to sculpt the face and brows were big and full like Brooke Shields back in the day. “It’s quite plain but there’s a depth to it so that the face pops in a glowing way,” said Pieroni.

Wet, dewy hair was created using mousse and two different kind of hair sprays. Hair was held in place with clips and nets until show time to keep hair groomed and tight. “There’s a lot of skin in the collection so they wanted to have something that looked like they just got out of the shower,” explained Recine.

“This look was much about the heart and soul of Victoria’s brand as opposed to a particular makeup or beauty trend. It’s interesting because I’ve noticed this with a lot of the designers that I’m working with this season. It’s less and less about a specific trend and more about each designer’s muse,” observed Creme. And because VPL’s roots are in lingerie – more utilitarian and empowering than frilly – it was appropriate that this nail look be about nudity and skin. Nails were short and round and got two coats of Butter London’s Tea With The Queen, for an opaque, strong, neutral, slightly peach-y manicure. The color was not designed to match the skin exactly, but it was meant to look like the models had a manicure.
