The Look: Cool Chicks
Makeup: Lisa Butler for MAC
Hair: Jimmy Paul for Bumble & Bumble
Nails: Theresa Darling for Priti NYC
To balance the vivid prints and colors in the collection, makeup was clean and sharp. “It’s light-hearted, elegant makeup… playful,” described Lisa Butler. Foundation was used minimally to even out the skin where necessary, a black pencil was smudged into the top and bottom lashline and a creamy grey pencil was smudged underneath the eye, no mascara. The brow was defined – not darker, just defined – and a nude color was tapped into the lips to take the color down. “It’s quite sharp with a nice, elegant brow to go with the colorful block prints. The clothes are very graphic so if you did a natural face it would be too weak. It needs something proportionally to hold it all in place which is why we did this defined brow. It’s very clean, very bare, no color, no blush, no pinkiness or warmth. It’s very cool but quite light.”

Hair was pulled off the face into a style that merged a slightly boyish, 1950s look on top with full, rough hair down the back. “From the front you’ll see a clean, slightly boyish, slightly oiled look but there’s a little surprise in the back, almost like a horse mane, but not a ponytail. It’s just big, thick hair, described lead hairstylist Jimmy Paul. Thickening spray was blow dried in with a round brush and then hairspray was applied to the top of the head for shine. Surf spray was used in the back to make it thick and rough. “She’s not a lady. She’s definitely a chick, a very strong woman.”

Nails got one coat of a matte nude that was custom blended just for the Ohne Titel show. The designers specifically requested a matte finish to blend in with the models’ skin because a glossy nude would be too visible. The nude color was created with a bit of nude grey, taupe and white. Fingers got one coat of the polish and a matte topcoat and toes got two coats with a matte topcoat.
