“The collection is inspired by Siouxie Sioux from Siouxie and the Banshees, they were a punk rock band in the 70’s and early 80’s. So we’ve made a modern variation of her look. We took away the strong brows but did the eyeliner, and instead of using black we’ve chosen two bright accent colors that were inspired by the shoes in the collection. One is orange and the other is a sort of acid green. For that, we’re using Mac Chromacake mixed with Mixing Medium. The look is a punky cat eye, a bleached brow and very natural skin with a pale lip and black mascara on the upper lashes. Lip Erase is the product we’ve used on the lips to cancel out the natural lip color. Then we’re using Mac Face Body Foundation, which is the most natural foundation we have, it really makes skin look like skin. Modern, colorful, tough, that’s the look.” – Benjamin Puckey for Mac
“Karen was telling me that the look is a girl who opens her grandfather’s cupboard, takes his oversized jackets and wears them. The makeup is quite strong, the eyebrows are bleached and there’s colored eyeliner, so we wanted the hair to be very organic. It’s a bit of a 90’s grunge revival and it’s case by case with each girl for the texture of the hair. For some girls we’re using the Full Form Mousse to bring a bit of thickness, then drying the hair and finishing with Hairdresser’s Oil to separate the pieces. Other girls need body so we’re using our famous recipe of Semi Sumo layered with Hair Powder. The girls with processed hair, we are starting by spraying Prep to condition the hair and then layering it with Surf and then drying it to get that beautiful organic texture.” – Laurent Philippon for Bumble and Bumble
“We’re doing a coat of Black Onyx, applying it a little bit thicker for better coverage. It hasn’t come out yet but we’re applying the Matte Topcoat so it’s not shiny. – Joanie Black for OPI
