“The makeup is about creating this imaginary shadow because they are all wearing hats. The feel is a little Victorian with some robotic elements in some of the prints and fabrics – the designer took symbols from old video games. There are also crystals on some of the dresses and coats. So what I wanted to do was make the girls look very beautiful but quite romantic. The red on the lip is the only real color because the face is quite pure and clean; it’s all about the invented shadow and the red lip.” – Dick Page for Shiseido
“The hair is all about texture. There are these these big hats that look like a knotted piece of fabric, so we’ve taken that idea and worked it into the hair. We’re creating a broken, dry texture using the Oribe Volumista and the Après Beach, so two products layered on top of each other and dried into the hair to create a really broken texture. Then it’s very simple, we’re taking sections of hair and tying them into two knots at the back of the head. The look is very organic, loose and it looks like she’s done it herself. She’s a cool street girl and it takes inspiration from the hats and what that represents, kind of a lived-in, broken and raw feel.” – Duffy for Oribe
“This season the inspiration is from the 40’s and Billie Holiday, it’s very Prohibition so we are using a deep plum color called Purple Day Lilly. We’ve put two coats on a square, shorter nail. For this coming winter you are going to see a lot of deep, dark colors. I’ve seen a lot of 40’s influence in the color selection so it’s all about the deep red’s, purples, and blues.” – Kim D’Amato for Priti NYC
