Backstage Beauty: Glitter, sparkle and ‘cosmic clusters’ at Ashish

Models at Ashish looked as though they had been dipped in glitter from head to toe.

The make-up focused on bright, shimmering eyes. Make-up artist Sharon Dowsett, using Maybelline New York, covered the eyelids with Coral Drama from the Diamond Glow Eyeshadow Palette, then decorated eyes with glitter and iridescent star cut-outs. Dowsett took the Big Eyes Pencil along the lower lashline to create a graphic look and lined it with crystal gems. Skin, lashes and brows were left bare for a fresh finish to balance the bright colours.

Hair stylist Ali Pirzadeh, using L’Oréal Professionnel, kept hair straight hair tucked behind the ears. Sparkle was incorporated using brightly coloured tinsel extensions covered with Mythic Oil and finished with Infinium hairspray.

Michelle Humphrey, Maybelline New York’s nail expert in the UK, created iridescent nail art for fingers and toes to reflect the chunky jewellery pieces in the collection. “We used big crystals to work with the different colours with the collection, applying them randomly to pick up the light,” Humphrey said of the look, which she described as a ‘cosmic cluster’. A coat of Color Show in Watery Waste was painted over with Glitter It for a holographic effect and sealed with Top Coat for a glossy finish.
