Aviator Academy at Andrea Pompilio

Milan: Held at the Accademia di Brera, the Art Academy of Milan, Andrea Pompilio’s masculine collection fused tailoring into an aviation theme without loosing a sense of sportiness. Engineering details such as prominent offset zippers, bonded volume and subtle quilted designs appeared on items like aviator jackets, relaxed overcoats and denim-inspired trousers. An active influence was evident throughout from side stripes on relaxed trousers and the sleeves of sport jackets to drawstring waistbands on trousers and the hems of elevated sweatshirts. Even formal shirting could not escape the sport treatment with stripes on collars and sides of sleeves as well as prominently placed academy-inspired patches. Pompilio modernized Italian tailoring for today’s trends for a collection that was strict, simple and sporty.  – Matt Feniger
