UK-based e-tailer Asos.com, purveyor of desirable fashion via an eclectic range of brands, price points, and styles, has gone vintage.
No, we’re not talking about their wonderfully democratic Marketplace sub-site, which operates a bit like Etsy meets Not Just A Label. Today marks the launch of The Salon, Asos’s lovely new line of directly vintage-inspired styles. Adding a modern twist to key vintage silhouettes from some of the 20th century’s most beloved fashion decades [read: the 1920s-1960s], The Salon’s inaugural offering for S/S 11 aims to provide looks for “seasonal summer occasions.” A host of familiar silhouettes– breezy drop-waisted 20s dresses, 50s full-skirted looks, and 60s shifts– are re-imagined in fresh spring colors, embellished with delicate cluster beading and fun appliqués. A small selection of accessories is available to round out The Salon’s vintage aesthetic, and with the line’s prices ranging from £12 – £180, going head-to-toe rogue in [Salon] pieces is an attainable feat for the vintage-inclined.
