Designer Ashish Gupta cites his design signatures as “sequins, glamor, sportswear and more sequins” a philosophy he fully realized for S/S 10. In the spirit of pop-culture fanatics like Jeremy Scott and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Ashish drew from popular consumer brands, surf culture and punk rock with logos, board shorts and aggressive studded denim. Short silhouettes or oversize pants worked best for such bold statements, while kitschy accessories and 80s-inspired hair were well-pitched styling options. Sequins and sparkle continued to look right for daytime, their traditional eveningwear connotations diffused with irreverent messages and bright color.
