Artisanal craftsmanship at Suno

New York: After giving birth to her first child, Erin Beatty and her partner Max Osterweis presented an artisanal manufactured collection. As a continuation of last seasons collection there was a noticeable emphasis on craftwork. There’s a lot of original fabric development that’s one-of-a-kind to us, and we wanted it to feel as if it had been hand-painted or hand-sewn or hand-texturised,” Beatty said. Unlike Suno’s typical palette there was plenty of black and navy in use while grenadine, yellow and azure pop in a rich way on abstract floral prints, multi-coloured gridded jacquard or hand-loomed weave inserts. A few pieces such as an oversized crushed cotton dress vertically embroidered or a layered dress reminded one of a sophisticated bohemian look. Soft structured midi dresses, asymmetric layers of silk and marled knit with braided details captured Suno’s aesthetic par excellence. – Christa Kaufmann
