Art History

louboutin.jpg

What happens when the unique aesthetics of a 17th Century Dutch painting enter the world of high end footwear? Dutch art, with its essential realism, has proved to be a never-ending source of inspiration for modern designers. Christian Louboutin’s F/W 09 advertising campaign, shot by famed photographer Peter Lippmann, takes the shoes and places them right in the middle of the art. The stiletto gems blend in with the surroundings, appearing as if they are actually part of the painting. Look for these images in magazines starting in August.
