Art & Design: Slow Tech: Designs for Digital Downtime

Our friends at Protein have teamed up with Henrietta Thompson, Editor of design magazine Wallpaper*, to create Slow Tech – an exhibition exploring downtime in a digital age, coinciding with the capital’s roster of events for London Design Festival.

Tonight the Protein HQ will host a late night opening, showcasing fully functioning prototypes from London based designers including Hugo Eccles, Samuel Wilkinson, Hector Serrano and Nic Roope, with Beck’s beers and gourmet eats from Home Slice Pizza on offer.

The space has been curated by design consultancy Kiwi&Pom, who will additionally be serving up a couple of their own ‘downtime’ concepts for the evening and duration of the exhibition.

In this highly digital and technologically abundant age, it is important to consider the effects of being constantly connected to mobiles, laptops and social networks, even long after the workday is done.  We look forward to checking out the concepts.

Pop along from 6.00pm until 10.00pm, 18 Hewett Street, London, EC2A 3NN – Samantha Fox
